for students entering grades 7-12
At our Upper East Side Location

EBL Coaching Summer Programs
During these 2-week small group strategy building programs, students will receive individualized instructional sessions to teach them fundamental executive functioning and academic skills that are essential for academic success. Each student is initially assessed to determine their strengths, weaknesses, and levels. They work in small groups during these intensive sessions and learn research-based strategies for note taking, time management, organization, focusing, reading comprehension, and writing. Students will learn techniques including webbing, column-style note taking, outlining, brainstorming, writing, and other multi-sensory tools to help them thrive in school.

Skills Covered

Written Language
Students will learn to organize, elaborate, and develop their writing. They will learn different types of graphic organizers for planning their writing and will learn how to brainstorm, write, and self-check paragraphs and essays.

Reading Comprehension
Students will be taught active reading and comprehension strategies including identifying and highlighting the topic, main idea, and important details when reading using multi-colored highlighters. They will also learn how to summarize, draw conclusions, make predictions, and sequence information.

Note Taking & Time Management
Students will learn various research-based note taking strategies, including column-style, outlining, and webbing, and will be given ample practice utilizing these techniques. They will also learn time management strategies, including learning how to compare estimated and actual times when completing tasks.

Test Taking, Focusing, & Prioritizing
Students will be taught concrete strategies for how to study for different types of tests, including multiple choice, short answer, and essays. They will also learn techniques for extending their focusing time, organizing their belongings, and prioritizing tasks efficiently.


Parent and School Communication
Prior to the start and at the conclusion of each session, we are happy to reach out to schools, teachers, and any other therapists working with the student to discuss their needs and progress. Parents will also receive written progress reports at the end of each two-week session.
